website. so as the "matter is now closed" I thought the world would like
to see the way they play.
click here To the "Committee" Hello Everyone, Please be aware that this page as of 5th February at 20:00 has no affiliation to Pencoed amateur Radio Club (or any other club) at this time. The page is being left up but all information for Pencoed events or contact info has been removed, Reasons for the removal of all Pencoed Amateur Radio club information and previous posts are as follows, on the 29th January 2013 Gareth Evans, Paul Smith and Tom Rees. Went to Pencoed Amateur Radio club as we have done every Tuesday for several years. I asked to use the Ten Tec radio's with a max power output of 100 Watts each. got told a yes by their vice chairman (Gerry Day) pulled the radio's out BUT in order to reach one of them we had to remove the 1.5Kw Amplifier from the cupboard and decided rather than put it back, we left the amplifier on top of the rugby clubs DJ equipment "disconnected" then we proceeded to wire up the first radio during which time, Paul plugged it into the same extension sockets as the rugby clubs DJ amplifier and mixer desk which caused a surge through the speakers and a loud pop when he switched the plug on, nothing to worry about, but Paul unplugged the DJ equipment. The first 'Ten Tec' radio would not transmit for the following reasons: Also we did try to use the second Ten Tec radio but that one does not have a working microphone with it. Ok so the radio is now setup, we try to use it and 'oh' it's on 'monitor', so we can hear ourselves feeding back through the radio's speaker. now where is the monitor switch? searched for a while and oh there it is on the back ok now that's turned down, let's try again. we decided this would be a good point to take a photo, and tune the antenna. the MFJ ATU we put inline, the 'forward' meter needle would not rise, to show SWR. Was the ATU faulty or maybe the antenna etc. we decided to do a quick test and try another SWR meter. so we did and yes the other SWR meter worked fine. so great we know there is a fault, with the MFJ ATU. (now bear in mind this is club equipment and the radio they mainly use is an Icom with a built in tuner so that MFJ was probably used last time these Ten Tec's came out (in 2009 - 2011) ok let's see what we can hear on the bands for a bit. right lets jump forward to the end of the night.... called Gerry Day down to inform him of the ATU fault, he says ok he will take it home to take a look at it... ...... Skip forward to the 5th February 2013 Came to club again as normal pay subs £2 each nothing is mentioned about a meeting regarding the damaged ATU. Tom asks for a committee meeting about the forthcoming table top sale and the organisation and that we were not consulted about it (Gareth and Tom are both on the committee at this point) tom is told No they want a meeting with the 3 of us tonight... and also there will be an EGM in 2 weeks. 'Uh' ok bit strange but hey ho, let's get it done. Go to the meeting where we are accused (without factual evidence of the following)- 1.) Blowing an ATU, Don GW3RVG was with us as we tried to use it and discovered the needle not rising also. Apparently the tracks were melted inside and it's been sent off for repair ? (they would not tell us where and could not give us an engineer's report or company name nor were we shown said damage). 2.) Blowing the fuse in the power supply (the power supply was working fine when we packed up the equipment at the end of the night (picture shows power supply working fine) 3.) Running a KW, their exact words were "you BASTARDS have been running a KW (then pointed at Tom") (through a 300 watt ATU and a 250 Watt antenna using a 1500 kw Amp that was not even plugged in or switched on)"I have a photo to prove this" and Again Don GW3 RVG can confirm we did not have power, coax or anything to run this. and there reply was "I beg to differ" (also there was no PTT control cable from the radio to the amp to allow it to transmit, the club does not have one on site nor own one) 4.) also breaking their health and safety rules as there were "sparks" apparently seen by 3 people 60ft away but nobody made that known on the 28th January nor did we see anything, nor heard a crack or did not trip the electricity ring main. (if this happened, then why did Gerry not come down to investigate as the clubs highest ranking official on the night ?. and why did he allow us to continue to use the radio's for the remainder of the evening.) We were falsely accused of damaging club equipment and the 2 committee members (Gerry Day MW0GCD, Ieuan Jones 2W0IUN) that were accusing us, and also signed our membership termination letter, would not listen to our explanation about how the equipment was already found to be faulty and the amplifier not being connected (Don and photograph as witness / evidence). The three of us would like to say thank you to Pencoed amateur radio club for screwing us over after all the help and effort we have put into the club. May the flees of a thousand camels infest their arse holes. 73-s The A-Team |
